Bal with Triple-X Trio

Triple-X started as a spontaneous adventure and grew into a phenomenon in the balfolk world. In 2006, the Triskell Festival in the Netherlands invited “a Belgian bal group” or “XXX,” which didn’t even exist yet. Three young folk musicians were brought together at the last moment and left without a band name and without a fixed setlist. What followed was an intense, whirlwind performance that pushed both the speakers and the power supply to their limits. The enthusiastic reactions quickly made it clear that this was the start of something special.

Since then, Triple-X has grown into a quintet with the addition of Ludo Stichelmeyer (percussion) and Stéphane Hardy (bombarde/saxophone), and their debut album Wodka Vaseline received widespread praise. With their dynamic, groovy balfolk sound, they have captivated audiences on countless stages at home and abroad.

They now briefly return to their roots as a trio, with Bert Leemans on chromatic accordion, Björn Van Hove on violin, and Jeroen Geerinck on guitar. Don’t expect a toned-down Triple-X, though—the trio stays true to their driven, raw style, with the same musical passion that has powered them since day one.
