Drøn

Dronn Solo

Pepijn (16), Klaas (20) and Hannelore (17) are 3 young folk musicians who met during an internship with Toon Van Mierlo and Pascale Rubens. When they participated in the first edition of What The Folk?! last year, they were enchanted by each other's way of playing and decided to form the group Drøn together. Since then, they already performed at the Daffodil festival and during the Heuvelsvenstage.

Duo De Schepper-Sanczuk

Duo De Schepper

The band Duo De Schepper-Sanczuk consists of violinist Anouk Sanczuk and guitarist Florian De Schepper. They both grew up in families where folk music received a lot of attention. As teenagers they were often present at concerts and folk festivals in Flanders. This is how they also started their own band at a young age (Bogus & Falafel) and played on many stages. Later, Anouk and Florian met in the group Broes, with which they have been playing on folk and jazz stages in Europe and beyond for 13 years nowadays.

In 2015, the idea to start a side project arose: a duo of guitar and violin. Through their study of jazz and classical music at the conservatory, Anouk and Florian explore the boundaries of what folk music can be. Elements from Balkan music, Brazilian folk music, and Irish folk can be found in the music they play. In the meantime, the duo has already recorded 2 albums in which they bring a wide range of folk music, sometimes with up-tempo and energetic songs, sometimes with lyrical, intimate melodies.
